Lucha Libre Taco Shop in San Diego

Boasting the city’s most entertaining taco shop theme, Lucha Libre adopts the bright colors and distinctive masks of Mexican wrestling, each of its three locations (Mission Hills, North Park, and Carlsbad) adorned with luchador photos, masks, and murals.

There are legit tacos behind those sparkly masks, though, beginning with a Surf & Turf taco that puts together shrimp and sirloin steak with avocado, cheese, and a “secret” chipotle salsa. Other taco fillings include chicken and blackened mahi-mahi, and while most of the tacos feature corn tortillas, you may also get these in a Flaco Taco, wrapped in lettuce instead.

A traditional taco shop playing the character of a Mexican wrestler, half the fun of Lucha Libre is the fun. For best results, reserve the Champion’s Booth or Table, a special seating area within each restaurant designed for maximum luchador style; the perfect place to feast like a champ while watching the kitschy pseudo-sport on mounted TVs — including soapy Lucha Libre movies, and the matches of Lucha legends.
